A song in the night
Even in the darkest moments, you can feel Love's presence.
Have you ever wakened in the middle of the night and heard a lone birdsong piercing the darkness? It sounds as if the bird is reaching for its very zenith of volume, pouring forth its sweet song with all its might. And have you wondered why it sings at this dark hour alone, so joyously?
Is it singing to another bird somewhere, or singing just because it can't help expressing the joy of being? The birdsong seems to be saying: "I am loved. I am happy. I am fearless. I am expecting only good."
I once heard such a song, only it wasn't sung by a bird. It was a hymn from the Christian Science Hymnal—and I was the singer!
