Our family had a healing recently involving our two young children. They were both very unhappy one evening, suffering from upset stomachs. They could not be comforted.

My husband called a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray to support our trust in God's healing power. I took our baby son out on the porch, while my husband stayed upstairs with our daughter. I began pacing the porch, declaring spiritual truths and holding the baby in my arms. At first I did not feel God's presence at all, but it helped me to state out loud what was true about the children—that they were perfect, whole, free. God's child cannot be touched by an unjust material law of sickness. In fact, he is innocent and pure. Because of this I began to see that this problem was really not just or true at all.

Suddenly as I was continuing to pray in this manner I stopped pacing, for I sensed very clearly that God is the Lawgiver; He is the Judge, and His law is good. I saw that this illness was no law, and it had no divine truth in it. At that very moment, the baby stopped crying and fell into a peaceful sleep. My thought was peaceful as well.
