My love for God and Christianity was established in childhood,...

My love for God and Christianity was established in childhood, because my mother was a loyal, steadfast churchgoer, and I was brought up attending both Sunday School and church. When my mother-in-law-to-be gave me a copy of Science and Health, I made a try to read it, and probably got a third of the way through before my husband and I were married. In the early years of our marriage, we joined The Mother Church and one of its branch churches. It required much effort on my part to rely on Christian Science for our family. The children were not always healed overnight, but healings came, and we all grew spiritually. I am so grateful for the good that was part of our lives.

Many have been the healings I have had, but two recent ones have prompted me to write this testimony. One very cold, snowy morning a few years ago, I was outside feeding our many farm cats. As I hurried to get back to the warm house, my feet went out from under me, and I landed on my right shoulder and upper arm. I immediately got up, more concerned with picking up the things I had been carrying. All the time I knew that God was with me and that because the divine Mind knows of no accidents, God's spiritual reflection, man, cannot experience them. Because I was home alone, I sat down inside and thought of many of my favorite verses in the Bible and Science and Health and the Christian Science Hymnal. My shoulder and arm seemed badly injured, but there was never any doubt in my mind that Christian Science heals. When my husband came home, he supported my decision to rely on Christian Science for healing.

We were to leave in a week for a southern vacation. Although unable to use the arm or move it, with my husband's help I was able to go ahead with plans. As I prayed, I kept in thought that we are all God's children, and that He loves and cares for each one of us. As I continued to pray, I eventually regained full use of the arm and shoulder.
