The most vivid healing I've had in Christian Science took place when I was twelve years old. An abnormal skin condition covered most of my body, and I had to be out of school for two months. Lotion was applied all over my body, but the condition only grew more uncomfortable. So instead of the lotion, I began bathing in water that was warmer than usual; but it didn't help.
One day after a bath, I decided to go and sit outside the house and read something. Then my grandmother, who was a Christian Science practitioner, sat down with me. She and I had a short visit.
I do not remember exactly the spiritual truths she told me; all I remember is a hymn she asked me to read, No. 53 from the Christian Science Hymnal. After our talk I went to look up that hymn and found the words:
