I woke up on a Tuesday morning with a headache and a temperature. But I didn't want to miss school that day, because we had something happening in the afternoon that I had worked very hard on, and it was also picture day.
My mom came into my room and I told her my problem. We immediately started to pray. We prayed to see me as God's perfect child, not subject to sickness. A Bible passage that I prayed with was "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Prov. 3:5, 6). I knew that God is perfect and can't be sick. And since I am God's reflection, I couldn't be sick either.
About an hour later I called a Christian Science practitioner. I told her that I was sick, but I really wanted to go to school that afternoon. She asked me what two times two was. "Four," I answered. "Right, but what if you said, 'five'?" she asked. I said that would be wrong. She said, "Correct. It's like your not feeling well, it's just a mistake, only a belief. And you can prove that." We talked a little longer about the fact that it's good to be in school, so it's right for me to be there.
