FROM THE EDITORS

Obviously , men aren't women and women aren't men! Yet perhaps the words on our cover, "True manhood and womanhood—our spiritual identity," will cause some to consider more seriously how important—and wonderful— it is that everyone includes in his or real, spiritual nature both masculine and feminine qualities.

There are areas in today's world where a woman is denied the freedom of development accorded to men. At the same time, men are often discouraged from giving priority to family concerns. Greater progress for society, as well as individual spiritual growth, comes as we free ourselves from such limitations and nurture more of the true masculinity and femininity that have their source in God. Whether we are men or women we can each strive to express the qualities of God, who is both Father and Mother to His spiritual creation, qualities such as intuition, loyalty, spiritual courage, and integrity.

Isn't it important to nurture whatever gives you a deeper sense of completeness, fulfillment, and purpose in life? "Union of the masculine and feminine qualities constitutes completeness," writes Mary Baker Eddy in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. We hope that the articles and testimonies in this issue prompt both men and women to think more deeply about the place of true manhood and womanhood in their lives.
