One morning early in 1992, I was very suddenly attacked with a most severe pain in one hip. I was unable to stand erect, walk, or sit comfortably.
I rang a Christian Science practitioner, asking her to help me through prayer. She lovingly agreed. I have relied on Christian Science for the healing of physical and other problems for many years.
All that day, with the help of Concordances, I searched the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy for the spiritual truths I needed. I found the Beatitudes from the book of Matthew most helpful and inspiring. My husband reminded me of these words from Hymn 374 in the Christian Science Hymnal: "Rejoice, for thou art whole." It was comforting to know that, as a Christian Scientist, he was also supporting our prayers. Frequently I sang the first verse of Hymn No. 139:
