It is an honor to share what the study of Christian Science...
It is an honor to share what the study of Christian Science has done for my family. I feel rich in gratitude for the stability and harmony that we now experience. Not only have we had healings of colds, flu, coughs, burns, poison ivy, and fingers smashed in doors, but we have had healings of emotional difficulties such as anger, grief, and rebelliousness, as well.
When I first began to study Christian Science, my four children ranged from toddler to teenager. Self-righteousness and human will were rampant in our family, making each of us miserable, and there were many instances of teenage disrespect and parental insensitivity to overcome. We faced moral challenges that demanded our constant attention to see one another with a more inspired vision of man instead of as mortals lacking goodness.
I was so happy that I had found the beautiful truths as revealed in Christian Science—but I was very dogmatic about them! This was hard on the oldest child, who became rebellious. Over the years our family experienced dramatic, positive changes in character as we learned—separately and together—that God, Principle, must be expressed lovingly, and that divine Love is principled. As I let go of my personal attachment to this child, and let the pure motherhood of God be expressed through me, I witnessed both of our characters shedding the stubbornness that left no room for charity. Since those years, it has been a source of deep joy to watch this child make a conscious choice to study Christian Science. I am so thankful for the help of a devoted Christian Science practitioner who guided us through those times with a love and affection that always buoyed a despairing hope.
