I have found that it is so important to start each day by turning to God in prayer, to thank Him for always being with us, as our constant companion. Then I am spiritually ready for the day. Isaiah assures us, "Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." I had an experience several years ago that proved the validity of this Bible passage.
My family and I were on a train trip. After traveling all night, we stopped for a brief stay in Washington, D.C., to take in all the wonderful attractions of our capital city. After checking into our hotel, my family set out to enjoy the many sights. I preferred to stay in the room to read and relax before going out to dinner.
As I lay down to rest for a few minutes, suddenly I became extremely ill. I couldn't move from the bed, and I became completely blind. I turned to God, wholly trusting His care and direction.
