Persistent prayer—and progress
Times of trouble can be times of progress when we're willing to pray with persistence and humble receptivity to God.
[Original in German]
A Few years ago I suddenly found myself confronted with a huge challenge. It came at the end of years of professional training, shortly before the final examinations. The work became increasingly difficult, and thoughts of fear and doubt arose. "Is this really the right profession for me?" "Am I equal to the demands?" "Considering the job situation at present, will I be able to find work at all in this field?" The question even arose as to whether my whole training had been for nothing.
My performance got worse and worse as a result of what I was gloomily imagining about my future prospects. My body, too, became visibly weaker, and now and again my memory and ability to speak failed.
