I am very grateful for the harmonious birth of our son
I am very grateful for the harmonious birth of our son. My husband and I were both brought up in Christian Science, and we continue to practice this teaching.
When I was expecting my first child, I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me and we studied various Bible passages. We also worked with references to obstetrics in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and studied her other writings. All during the pregnancy I never suffered from morning sickness or other negative effects commonly associated with pregnancy.
State law required that a licensed physician or midwife deliver the baby. I employed a doctor who respected my wishes for a natural childbirth.
