Christ: the healing and saving idea
We can feel the healing influence of Christ as a powerful, practical help in time of need.
Our cruise did not turn out as I had envisioned. The first night out on our long-anticipated vacation, the ocean built up into fifteen-foot swells that made it nearly impossible not only for passengers to eat dinner but for the waiters to serve it! Many began to rush around for remedies they thought might offset the effects of seasickness.
I felt miserable as I lay on the bed in my cabin. I wished I had never come, and I yearned for a return any way but by boat. Because I had learned to rely on God for healing, in felt strange to be wondering if I too might find quick relief in a material remedy. Gradually, however, I began to rouse myself. I realized I could still think clearly, and so I reached out in prayer to God for help, as is my practice. Almost immediately these lines came to me from a poem by Mrs. Eddy:
