The last day before Christmas vacation we were going to have a big party at school. But I was sick. My mother gave me Christian Science Sentinels so I could read the children's articles while she prayed to God to know the truth about me. Then my mother read a story from the Bible to me about Jesus. Then I said, "Mommy, I feel much better! Can I go to school?" And Mommy said, "Yes you can, Rachael." The class was surprised to see me! God knows that I am perfect and good because I am really His child!

When Rachael wanted to stay home on the day of her Christmas party at school, I knew we needed to pray to see her true selfhood as God's child, His likeness. While she read children's articles from the Sentinel, I prayed and studied that week's Bible Lesson from the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The Bible references included the story of Christ Jesus walking on the water. I saw so clearly that the so-called laws of matter had no effect on him because he gave them no power. He knew that God is the only power. I could see that no material "law" could attach sickness to Rachael.
