I am grateful to have been raised in a home where the practice of Christian Science was supported. My mother and dad agreed that we children would be raised to follow the teachings of Christian Science even though my dad was active in another Christian denomination. From an early age, my brothers and I attended the Christian Science Sunday School regularly and learned the practical truths of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

During the summer between high-school graduation and beginning college, I was playing in a women's Softball league. The arm I throw with became very sore. In prayer, I earnestly turned to God and began applying the spiritual truths I had learned in Sunday School—knowing that God is not the author of error, pain, or disorder. I prayed to understand more about my real, spiritual identity as God's perfect child, made in His likeness.

I mentioned the situation to my mother. She shared this healing thought from Science and Health with me: "Immortal Mind, governing all, must be acknowledged as supreme in the physical realm, so-called, as well as in the spiritual." That was the answer for me. As I acknowledged Mind's government, the arm was quickly healed. I had no further discomfort throughout the rest of the season.
