My introduction to Christian Science is the most wonderful thing that has happened to me. It was with the help of a Christian Science practitioner that I came to know of Science and spiritual healing, and just what these could mean to me and my family.

I went to the practitioner for help through prayer when I had a very bad sunburn. She told me that God, who is all good, does not create anything that is harmful. She spoke of God as being "a sun and shield" (Psalms), a protector of His creation. Soon, as I was able to understand that these spiritual truths applied to me in my real, spiritual nature as God's own child, the pain was gone and I was able to work comfortably. I am very grateful for this unusually quick healing of a sunburn.

I appreciate Christian Science as a way of life because it has fostered closeness among my children and me. I have seen that the practice of Science also helps me to resolve the problems of single parenthood. This in turn enables all of us to respond to one another in a more loving way. We don't have the arguments we used to have when we are rushing around trying to make sure that homework has been done for school or deciding on all the other details of daily life. Now the mornings are spent enjoying each other's company and appreciating the closeness we feel through knowing of God's presence.
