Is there a way to understand the Bible?
The hungry heart does not just want to read the Bible but to live its promises of God's goodness. More and more people are discovering how.
What a joy it must have been for Mary Baker Eddy when she was healed while reading the Bible. A severe fall had caused serious injuries. But as she reached out to God while reading the Bible, she gained a revealed insight and understanding of the truth it contains, which resulted in physical healing.
But why did the Bible have this effect on Mrs. Eddy? Is there a way to understand the Bible so its truths can heal us?
According to her, it is "the spiritual signification of Scripture" that makes the difference. Mrs. Eddy writes in science and Health: "The Bible teaches transformation of the body by the renewal of Spirit. Take away the spiritual signification of Scripture, and that compilation can do no more for mortals than can moonbeams to melt a river of ice." And we can be grateful that, through Christian Science healing, the Spiritual and practical significance of the Bible is being proved over and over again.
