When it was time to renew my driver's license, a fault was found in the far vision of one of my eyes. I had never had vision trouble before. I hoped that the machine was wrong, but an optometrist's examination confirmed the situation. I never accepted this as a permanent condition because I felt it could be healed through prayer, but I did get a pair of glasses and my driver's license.
In the weeks to follow, I prayed about sight. Also, I asked a Christian Science practitioner to support my own prayers concerning perfect vision. Then I continued to pray for myself, feeling confident that I would be healed because I had experienced many healings in the past through prayer.
I held to the spiritual meaning of eyes as given in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental." I gained lovely glimpses of the fact that the real man is innocent of any unenlightened thought, and I also realized that we cannot be kept from seeing the beauty and perfection of God's creation, including perfect man.
