I feel very grateful for God's protection

I feel very grateful for God's protection. Some years ago my work necessitated considerable travel over a vast area. Mainly this was done by motor car over roads that were often very rough. During this period I never experienced any trouble, even though long distances had to be travelled in areas with no sign of habitation.

During the wet season it was my practice to travel by train because the roads became impassable. It was during one of these journeys that I experienced what, to me, was an outstanding example of divine protection.

Just before going to sleep in my compartment I commenced reading a novel, but I had not read very much before I felt compelled to put it aside and read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. After reading for some time and feeling very close to God, I went to sleep. Several hours later I woke when being thrown out of the upper sleeping berth. Without my realising what was happening, my hands went unerringly to the side, acting as a brace, thus preventing my being thrown against the wall of the carriage and so protecting me from possible injury. Here indeed was evidence of the "presence" of Mind.
