Throughout the years the study of Christian Science has given my life purpose and direction and has been my strength in times of difficulty. In Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." The following experiences illustrate how these words have been proved in my life, and I hope they will encourage others.
When I was a young mother, our family experienced an unforgettable example of divine protection. One morning after studying the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, I began my household activities; but my thoughts were troubled and anxious. Several times during the day I left my housework to pray and study the Bible Lesson. I prayed to understand that God is the only Mind and is everywhere, and that nothing can come between God and His child, His spiritual offspring.
Toward evening I called my very young daughter several times for her bath as she sat in her rocking chair. When she did not respond to my calls, I continued to pray to realize man's oneness with God and to know that as a child of God, my daughter is obedient to God, Mind. I then heard her steps coming to the bathroom, and as she entered there was a tremendous crash. Looking into the living room, I saw that a very heavy glass chandelier had fallen on the rocking chair and broken into hundreds of pieces.
