Reappearing rumors
"The weeds of mortal mind are not always destroyed by the first uprooting; they reappear, like devastating witch-grass, to choke the coming clover. O stupid gardener! watch their reappearing...." Mis., p. 343.
Mary Baker Eddy makes this helpful observation in her article "Fidelity," which is included in her book Miscellaneous Writings.
When we started this column in the Sentinel last fall, our commitment was to answer rumors as they appeared—and/or reappeared. Some rumors do tend to take on the characteristics of reappearing weeds, or "devastating witch-grass," for the uninformed or ill-informed.
