At one time I found myself totally incapacitated
At one time I found myself totally incapacitated. I had been working vigorously for almost three years at two part-time jobs. I called a Christian Science practitioner, and prayerful support was given. I had been quite independent, but now I had to return to my parents' home. Although they were most concerned about my well-being, they were very loving, cooperative, and patient in allowing me to work out the problem through Christian Science.
I reached out to God with my whole heart. Soon I regained my appetite. In the ensuing days I leaned totally on God's sustaining power. Simple duties were a challenge. At times I would be afraid to walk very far outside or be in public places. But my prayer was unceasing.
Among many helpful truths was this one from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "Spirit diversifies, classifies, and individualizes all thoughts, which are as eternal as the Mind conceiving them; but the intelligence, existence, and continuity of all individuality remain in God, who is the divinely creative Principle thereof." Study in the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings on the subjects of Life, hope, trust, and heritage was also strengthening. I steadfastly affirmed man's true, spiritual identity.
