Grace that heals

We can rely on God's grace to soften our hearts when we feel angry or bitter, to open our eyes to good when things seem hopeless, and to multiply our joy when all is well!

I Couldn't help noticing her. It wasn't that she was physically striking in any way. It was the manner in which she spoke in soft, gentle tones to the child; it was the inner stillness and quiet joy that she radiated. As I walked through the large public aquarium that day, I found myself drawn to her again and again, watching and learning.

This was not a beloved relative or friend; the woman was unknown to me. But the quality of grace that she so beautifully expressed was one that I longed to know better.

Since that time, I've learned a little more about grace. (I still have much more to discover!) I'm beginning to glimpse something of the majesty and dominion that an understanding of grace brings to our lives. Mrs. Eddy found grace to be such an important quality that she wrote in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds." Science and Health, p. 4.
