During my four years in the Navy, I usually studied the Bible Lesson while in my bunk. Sailors passing by would inquire about my study, and often a lively discussion about religion would ensue.
I relished these opportunities, and I loved sharing what I was learning with others. Invariably the question would arise, "Yeah! but suppose ..." followed by a list of physical troubles that might arise, the most popular of which was a broken bone. My reply was always the same; that I would deal with the situation, if it arose, with the understanding I had gained in my study of Christian Science.
Many years later, my family and I were invited to spend a weekend of winter sports with friends at their lodge. On Sunday, as we were packing to leave, one of the children burst into the house and yelled that our son's toboggan had hit a rock and he was hurt. A close friend, a member of the ski patrol, ran out to the hill while my wife and I waited, praying for our son and recognizing that God is an ever-present, immediate help.
