A few days before Christmas a couple of years ago, I was...
A few days before Christmas a couple of years ago, I was healed of severe pain in my lower back. I had been feeling isolated and burdened by my inability to carry out normal tasks.
This particular morning I woke and crawled to the veranda to reach my books—the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy. I turned to Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy and started reading an article entitled "Fallibility of Human Concepts." This article includes the metaphor of a regulator at a mill, and I read: "The regulator is governed by the principle that makes the machinery work rightly; and because it is thus governed, the folly of tending it is no mere jest. The divine Principle carries on His harmony."
This message was the light that dispelled my fears, and I smiled, knowing that there was nothing I needed to do to help God, divine Principle, govern. I realized that ever-present, active, divine Love maintains and supports life. The grip of pain vanished, and I was free.
