Some years ago I developed a large tumor. Doctors said that it should be operated on immediately or my life would be in danger. This made me very fearful. I thought erroneously that the condition was God's will and that He had abandoned me. I was resigned to submitting to the operation.

The next day, however, a friend of my mother's spoke to her about Christian Science and introduced us to a Christian Science practitioner. The practitioner told me that God is ever present and omnipotent, and that I could choose to rely on Him for healing.

My attitude began to change, and I came to understand that the condition was not God's will, for He creates only good. In my true spiritual being as His likeness, I was perfect. Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 1): "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." I continued holding to the truth that "all things are possible to God."
