Reaching the goal of right thinking

"Peace of mind" isn't just a phrase, it's a fact—and a fact we can prove each day.

How little control we sometimes seem to have over our own thinking. A small cloud appears on our mental horizon, occasioned by a careless remark, an unhappy memory, a nagging anxiety, or any number of things, and we dwell on it until the small cloud becomes a full-blown storm of unhappiness, resentment, anger, or depression. Joy and peace lost sight of, our day falls victim to a "bad mood."

But are we really helpless, caught in a vortex of unhappy emotion until sufficient time has passed for it to dissipate or until another interest attracts our attention?

We can experience dependable peace of mind now. The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippians wrote, "The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:7. For "passeth all understanding" The New English Bible gives not only "beyond our utmost understanding" but also, in a footnote, "of far more worth than human reasoning." In Christian Science we learn to honor God as the all-knowing Mind, forever at peace and governing in harmony all creation, including man. In fact, since God is infinite and ever present, He is the only Mind there is. Man, made in His image and likeness as the Bible states, must reflect, or evidence, this Mind.
