Oh, for more Nathans!
(See II Samuel 12:1-25)
Whose moral courage risks retaliation,
while uncovering error
that we may be healed.
There are many "Davids"—
proud, adored,
used to having their own way.
And few "Nathans"—
well honed by much praying,
Clear-eyed and far-seeing,
who make the incision
to heal.
To cut away that
which would consume
our beloved Davids.
O let us strengthen our own Nathans,
then our own Davids
will listen... and repent.
