One day a couple of years ago, I was returning home from a neighborhood store when the heel of my shoe caught on the curb as I stepped down to cross the street. The bag I was holding slipped from my arm, and a large glass bottle broke into many jagged pieces. I fell forward onto the broken glass, sustaining several deep gashes on my cheek and forehead and numerous small cuts with silvers of glass in them.
A familiar sentence from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to thought immediately (p. 424): "Under divine Providence in perfection." I knew this to be absolute spiritual law, although the scene was frightening because of profuse bleeding. I picked myself up, declined aid from concerned bystanders, and went on to my apartment, silently turning to God.
Once home I called a dear friend who is a Christian Science practitioner and requested Christian Science treatment, which she lovingly agreed to give. As we talked, the bleeding stopped and the wounds began to close. There was never any pain. As we continued to pray over the next several days, the swelling and discoloration disappeared, and the slivers of glass dislodged themselves and fell away. I freely went about my activities, and no one even seemed to notice any evidence of the fall. This healing has been complete and perfect, leaving no scars. My cup of gratitude to God runneth over!
