IT is with deep appreciation and love for Christian Science that I submit this testimony. During my late teens I attended a Christian Science Sunday School. I accepted the fact that healings could be accomplished through prayer, but I didn't understand the divine Principle that made them possible.
After I was married, I began serving as soloist in different Protestant churches and reading various books on religion. Gradually I began relying on material methods for healing. Following the birth of our second son, I sought the help of a doctor for an internal disorder I had been having. After recommending many prescriptions he said he was sorry but he could do nothing more for me, and I would have to learn to live with the trouble. I was also suffering from another serious condition. The latter difficulty limited me to eating only a few types of bland foods. To relieve the pain I was taking over-the-counter drugs.
My love for God had always been great, but my understanding of Him was very limited. In my extremity I called a Christian Science practitioner. When I visited her, a gentle peace came over me. Many fearful and false beliefs about myself and about God, which I had been holding, were corrected during that visit. What a perfect seedtime for the beautiful spiritual truths she shared—truths of man's relation to his heavenly Father-Mother God. I so needed to know that I was completely embraced in divine Love.
