I am deeply grateful for all that Christian Science has brought to my life. More than merely a system to make situations better, Science has been a guide when I needed to be led, a hope when I've been sorely challenged, a friend when I needed friendship, and a map for charting my way through life. Some of the healings I've experienced while relying on Science have been bench marks for me in my endeavor to understand God and my relation to Him.
About four years ago I visited a dentist to have my teeth cleaned. The dentist took X-rays of my teeth, and they revealed three teeth that were severely decayed. The dentist expressed concern that the teeth would be lost unless he could place fillings in them immediately. I was going to be in town only briefly and didn't have time for him to perform the needed work. His concern was so great—and well intentioned—that he handed me the X-rays and told me to see a dentist in my hometown as soon as possible, so I could avoid further complications. I thanked him and took the X-rays with me.
On returning home I considered some of the facts I was learning in my study of Science. I was learning that the one infinite God is good and that He sends only good to His creation, man. Also, because God is the only creator, creation can express nothing unlike His perfection. The belief of decay had to be a deception.
