It often seems that mankind, in its search for good health, has made an idol of it. Many people hope that fitness classes, jogging, or eating so-called "health foods" will bring good health to them. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, states (p. 383), "One says: 'I take good care of my body.' To do this, the pure and exalting influence of the divine Mind on the body is requisite, and the Christian Scientist takes the best care of his body when he leaves it most out of his thought, and, like the Apostle Paul, is 'willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.'" I have found that this guidance has worked for me.

Over the last sixty years, since becoming a Christian Scientist, I have enjoyed good health. Through Christian Science I have learned that because God is in fact the source of man's health, man can't in truth be sick. I acknowledge this truth in my daily prayers.

As managing director of a small paper-manufacturing company most of my business life, I never missed a day of work. When it was time for me to retire, the president of the company gave me a full year's salary in lieu of sick benefits normally allowed our company employees. This is just one example of how Christian Science can become a way of life that promotes good health.
