A Thursday morning conversation and inklings of spirituality
"What kind of Christian Scientist are you?"
It seemed like an unusual opening when someone at work asked a Christian Scientist about her religion. But it was one of those sincere questions that pop up as people come to know each other better and share thoughts and remembrances of things that have left a lasting impression. On this Thursday they were thoughts of family life and children and neighbors.
"I had a neighbor and we were friends"—that's how the questioner's conversation continued. "She loved her children very much, but two of the three were born with serious disabilities, and it was devastating to her. She was on the verge of taking her own life. Then she found Christian Science, and it saved her life. It must be wonderful to have a religion like that."
