My first knowledge of Christian Science came through a healing...
My first knowledge of Christian Science came through a healing of bronchitis. At the time, a physician had said the condition would recur each winter. My fiance asked if I would like to have Christian Science help from his mother, who lived in a nearby city. (She had been healed as a young woman of tuberculosis.) I accepted the offer of help and, much to my surprise, the healing through prayer was instantaneous and permanent. Later my fiance and I were married, and we raised two children in Christian Science.
More recently, with the fine prayers of a dedicated Christian Science practitioner, I had a healing of a severe condition. There were periods of sleeplessness and distress, but through reading articles and healing accounts in the Christian Science Sentinel and The Christian Science Journal, I found hope and comfort.
Much help and assurance were gained through studying this passage from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 162): "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies. Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth." Also a verse from the Bible was of inestimable value in working out this problem (Ps. 118:17): "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord."
