For the last three decades I have been studying and practicing the Science of Christ. During that time my life has continuously improved. There have been many physical healings and much spiritual regeneration. I am deeply grateful to God.

A number of years ago when our son was a preteen in boarding school, he had come home for the summer holidays. At one point he kept asking us to take him for a swim at one of our many beaches in Bombay. I was reluctant to do this, as the monsoon season had just started and the sea was considered unsafe because of crosscurrents and deceptive undercurrents. But our son kept on pleading with us to take him, and finally my wife and I decided that if we were careful and did not go too far into the water, it would be safe to swim. (In retrospect we realized that swimming that day was unwise, particularly since the public had been generally warned about the hazards during that season.)

We waded out until we were knee-deep into the sea. My wife and son began to play about and were having a delightful time. I waded out a little farther so that I could swim a few strokes in waist-deep waters. Suddenly I heard my wife and son yelling for help. I turned around to look, but they were nowhere to be seen. Then I saw their heads bob up for a moment and go down again. I went swiftly to them and grabbed hold of my wife with one hand and my son with the other.
