I have had many healings through the study and prayerful application of the truths of Christian Science. One experience in particular has been especially valuable to me.

One summer I was working as a camp counselor, and while romping with some children in a lake, I felt a sharp blow to one ear. I lost the hearing in that ear and was in some pain.

I tried to gain a clearer sense of man's true being, as given in the Bible and explained in Mrs. Eddy's writings. In Proverbs we read (20:12), "The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them." I reasoned that because God is infinite Spirit, He never made a fallible, material man whose senses were dependent on material ears and eyes. Man, as the image of God, Spirit, must be spiritual. Therefore, hearing is fundamentally a spiritual quality and can never be lost as the result of an accident; it is safely included in God's perfect knowledge of His reflection. I realized that regardless of what the physical senses reported, my true sense of hearing was complete, spiritual, and ongoing.
