A whisper that is "as when a lion roareth"
What do you suppose the Apostles Peter and James (or Matthias or any of the others like Barnabas or Paul for that matter) would think if they walked into a Christian church today—any church of any denomination?
You can imagine their surprise at the extensiveness of organization in even a single church, let alone a large denomination. You can imagine their awe at the technology, the publications, the programs.
But the disciples' first questions might be about healing: "You talk of our Master as though you knew him and love him as we do," they might say. "We hear your words, your explanations; but tell us of the healing works."
