Christian Science has shown me how to turn to God in prayer...
Christian Science has shown me how to turn to God in prayer from earliest childhood to my current "post-retirement" career.
For a number of years in the latter stages of my teaching career, I periodically experienced palpitations in my chest that immobilized me for periods of a few minutes up to a number of hours. One evening, while I was serving as presiding officer at a service club meeting, I felt obliged to remain for a program I would have normally not attended. The program included a film that graphically detailed the symptoms and methods of treating heart attacks. I recognized that many of the symptoms described were similar to those that I had been experiencing.
One night a particularly aggressive attack completely immobilized me. I managed to waken my wife, who called the Christian Science practitioner who had been helping me. Prayerful work was taken up immediately, and presently I regained use of my limbs and could again speak. I asked for, and was granted, a leave of absence from my job to work out the problem.
