Some years ago, when my husband and I were working hard to establish our small business, an event occurred that enlarged our understanding of God's ever-present care.
We required for our product a very special steel, which we were able to obtain only in small quantities because of our limited financial situation. However, the time arrived when we needed this commodity in large amounts, and we sought to order a carload. The steel manufacturer we contacted would not even place an order in production until we were able to prove our financial stability—something which took quite a bit of time to do. Then we learned it would take the company several months to manufacture our steel.
At last we were given a date when the steel would arrive. Great anticipation filled the work force as we prepared for using the new steel. We even redesigned our product to accommodate the better-quality metal. The day the steel was to be shipped, a telephone call from the factory informed us that because of a consignment error, our carload had been delivered to someone else. Reprocessing, we were told, would take months. We were stunned.
