I turned to Christian Science for help when I was suffering...
I turned to Christian Science for help when I was suffering with nervous exhaustion. At the time, our two daughters were small, and it seemed impossible for me to do what should be done each day as a young wife and mother. Medically I had found nothing that had helped me. My husband had attended a Christian Science Sunday School in his youth, and although he was not attending a branch church at that time, he suggested Christian Science treatment to me. I decided to try it.
I called a practitioner listed in an issue of The Christian Science Journal I had been given. I visited the practitioner weekly, listening, sometimes arguing with her, often crying and questioning this teaching. This precious, dedicated worker was always patient and loving. Between visits I read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, seeking to better understand it. I also started attending services in a branch church, and I enrolled our children in the Christian Science Sunday School. We all grew in our understanding of God and His love for us.
My days consisted of working in the home, studying Christian Science, resting, and praying. Gradually, as the year progressed, when I woke in the morning, in place of the usual feeling of dread I felt joy! Each morning this joy was with me, and with it came strength and a growing spiritual understanding.
