Have you seen any angels lately?

Have you seen any angels lately? Have you felt their presence? If you haven't, maybe you don't know where to look for them. Where do we expect to find them? They are spoken of quite often in the Bible. In Psalm 91 it is explained that if we dwell in "the secret place" of God, Spirit, we will dwell safely under the charge of His angels. But what are angels?

Angels, as scientifically understood in Christian Science, are "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect ..." Science and Health, p. 581. (This definition comes from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science.) Heaven is a condition of harmonious consciousness, and it is discoverable within us right here and now. Angels awaken us to this heaven within by bringing to us pure thoughts from God that express the truth of God's being.

Angels represent divine goodness and power in human experiences, helping us. Didn't an angel help Daniel when he was thrown into the lions' den? Daniel, the Bible tells us, was a good, faithful, and obedient worker for King Darius. In fact he was chief among the three "presidents," whose job was to oversee the regional governors of the kingdom. As often happens when one stands out above the crowd, people were jealous of Daniel because the king loved him the most for his goodness and wisdom. By a kind of political maneuver, Daniel's enemies made his worship of his God a violation of the king's decree. Even though Daniel had done no hurt to anyone, the law condemned him to be thrown into the den of lions. And of course, as those familiar with the story know, God sent His angel and delivered Daniel from the lions, and he was set free.
