Christian Science came into my life the Sunday my mother and I decided to attend services in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Convinced of the truth I heard then, I began to study the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. (So did my mother.) But I didn't understand very much of what I read, so I set the books aside. After some time, when relationship and physical problems began piling up, I tried again to study the writings of Mrs. Eddy. Through reading Science and Health I started to experience healing, in part with the prayerful support of a Christian Science practitioner.

Smoking and drinking fell away effortlessly. A fracture, inflammation in my throat, and flu symptoms were all healed. Also emotional effects of a divorce were overcome through Christian Science treatment. At this time I began attending services frequently at a nearby branch church, where I eventually became a member. Since then I have made considerable progress in my understanding of Christian Science. Also, I am happily remarried.

More recently I was healed of back pain and bladder trouble by studying the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, giving particular attention to this passage on page 162 of Science and Health that was included one week: "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies. Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. It changes the secretions, expels humors, dissolves tumors, relaxes rigid muscles, restores carious bones to soundness." Also, this sentence on page 391 was helpful: "Instead of blind and calm submission to the incipient or advanced stages of disease, rise in rebellion against them."
