Where is God when you need Him?
I was sitting in my study one afternoon when our daughter, who is not yet in kindergarten, wandered in. She gave a little smile and climbed up in my lap. Whenever she's ready to engage in conversation, I never know quite what to expect or what sudden turn the discussion might take.
On this occasion her first question indicated that she had apparently been considering some rather weighty matters. "Daddy, how can God be right here and in Africa?"
There's no telling what prompted that surprising inquiry, but I did my best to reply in a way that I thought was reasonable for a preschooler to grasp. "God is everywhere; always where we are," I said. "He's Spirit. He's bigger than the world."
