I attended a Christian Science Sunday School from early childhood. After reaching the age of twenty, I strayed from the church and attended only two or three times a year. I was too busy having what I thought to be fun. One day a young family member was killed in a car accident. I was devastated, not only by my own loss, but mostly because of the suffering I saw other family members enduring. In my search for consolation, I was drawn back to the Church of Christ, Scientist. That step proved to be wonderfully rewarding and comforting. I came to see that this relative had not really been taken from us—his true identity was that of God's immortal idea. I can now look back on those years when I had left this priceless teaching and can see how unhappy I had been, living as I was.
Our family has had many wonderful healings through the study and application of the spiritual truths of Christian Science. My grandparents were devout students of this Science, and so is my mother.
