Some questions and answers about Christian Science

This is an age of "up-frontness." We seem to know everything about everybody from our neighbors to our movie stars. But somewhere in this swirl of information, and too often misinformation, the most important thing of all may get lost—what the heart keenly feels about the deeper issues of life. People are beginning to recognize that this world rises and falls not so much on the ups and downs of the stock market, or on the personal details that so often fill newspapers, as on what people think about these deeper issues.

We thought our readers might like to see some answers to questions about such issues—questions that have been asked of Christian Scientists in a variety of settings. Some material was taken from correspondence with our Church's information office, the Committee on Publication. Other answers were given during talks that Christian Scientists were invited to provide for neighboring churches or educational groups. Some answers have been given informally in letters or dialogue.

These questions and answers are not meant to be a statement of church policy but rather to serve as a window into the religious convictions of Christian Scientists and the nature of our Church. We will continue to publish this column several times a year.
