Class instruction

Take a few moments to read the editorial that begins on page 440 of this Sentinel. If you're thinking of "taking class," you'll find it very helpful!

To comment on one of its ideas—it's interesting how "Recapitulation" in Science and Health came to be "the chapter for the class-room" (see Retrospection and Introspection by Mrs. Eddy, p. 83). The leaflet "'Putting first things first' and 'Learning How to Learn': Two messages from The Christian Science Board of Directors" (available from Clerk's Membership Services at The Mother Church) tells something of this, and adds further useful insights into the value of class instruction.

In the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, the sections teaching Christian Science and board of education (pages 83-92) govern every aspect of the class experience—undergird it with strength, safety, wisdom, and inspiration for teacher and pupil alike—and make it an education that transcends mere "personal teaching."
