In the late 1970s our son and I had healings that I want to share. I became very ill one day and worsened rapidly the next. My husband was out of town at the time. I attempted to pray for myself, but because I was suffering with periods of delirium, I requested treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. The practitioner said that he would support my prayers, and he asked me to read references in Mrs. Eddy's writings showing that God is the only power and presence. I made an effort to do this, and the delirium ended. I still felt very ill, however, and I asked the practitioner to continue praying for me.

That same weekend I received a telephone call from one of the mothers in our son's nursery school car pool. She said that her daughter had been stricken with a serious type of strep throat that was going around our city and that our son had been exposed to the disease. She then listed the symptoms. Every symptom she described, I was experiencing. I felt overwhelmed by this mesmeric picture.

The following day our son was sent home from school with the same symptoms. The practitioner encouraged us to keep pondering the truths of God's ever-presence. He asked our son to express gratitude to God—to thank God for helping him.
