Single parent

FAITH WALSH HEIDTBRINK

Single mother/father/parent
You are not at the mercy of the wilderness,
Like Hagar,
Alone/afraid/helpless
With her child.

You are in Christ's vestibule
Where God's tender knowledge of you
Floods out yesterday's
Trials/ sadness/losses
With the promise of today.

Love's outpouring/sustaining/upholding
Does reach the seeking heart.
Like Hagar, you are
Embraced, beloved, provided for
With tender help/ welcoming home/unending supply.
