Forgiveness and healing
One evening last year before a Wednesday testimony meeting in our branch Church of Christ, Scientist, a fellow member lightheartedly teased me about something I was wearing. I wasn't in the least offended. In fact, I didn't think about it at all. But apparently she began to worry that she had offended me, so after the meeting she came up to me and apologized—just in case.
"Listen," I said, "don't give it another thought. I knew you were teasing me. And anyway," I added, "that's only one. You still have four hundred and eighty-nine to go!"
I was remembering the conversation between Peter and the Master, Christ Jesus: "Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." Matt. 18:21, 22.
