Fulfillment
The star climbs the night,
poises angelic halo
above Bethlehem.
After their trek, shepherds
sit quietly.
The babe sleeps
in his dozing mother's arms.
Joseph lies back
in a pile of straw,
finally at ease.
A dappled cow placidly chews cud,
a lamb folds spindly legs
under his peaceful belly.
A spider
in her corner
scurries back and forth to weave
enough glistening web
to prism the sun's first rays.
Suddenly now a rooster crows.
The earth springs awake
to
a
changed world.
