Courage to help others
There is something deeply stirring about unselfish acts. When we hear about people who have gone out of their way to help others in a time of great challenge, we feel proud of what we call "the human spirit. " But is that all there is to it?
The following account told by Christopher Heinbaugh, a young member of The Mother Church from South Pasadena, California, indicates that there is much more at work in these cases than a burst of good will and energy. Genuine acts of heroism have a way of showing all of us something of our real nature and purpose as the expression of God, who is divine Spirit. To turn consciously to God, Love, at times of crisis is to find strength and wisdom beyond human capacity.
